If today were a sandwich it would be an italian sub; messy and jammed packed.
We all had to get up early today because the parents had to go to Milan and make early trains and I had to report to design land by 8:30. The mess started when I got to work. I have a deadline to finish by tomorrow but I am flying the plane blind, so to speak. The captain is in London and the co-pilot, me, doesn't really know what's going on, but I'm trying to keep to flight plan and keep her straight and steady. After a few heated discussions with the captain over the phone, I called it a day a little early. I had to be at Fil's school before 3:15. The English teacher invited me to speak to the class about my family and my favorite school subjects. Yesterday I prepared a short slide show of my family so the kids could see my grandmothers, parents, brothers and sister. I threw in a few pictures of myself when I was younger than five thinking they might get a kick out of it. The school is a little different than American schools and I couldn't help think about how my mom feels everyday she stands in front of kids. Although I have to say that my mother controls her classes much better than Fil's teacher does. The kids were running around and talking to each other while I was trying to speak to them. But most of the time they listened and asked several questions about the people in my pictures. Fil was very attentive and answered lots of questions, I could tell that he enjoyed having me in the class and I enjoyed having the opportunity. I helped the kids learn a Christmas song after I finished my presentation and we sang along to the tape. Saved by the bell...I hurried down the street to Ruggie's school to pick him up and take him to music school. We caught a ride with another mother and I was glad because I wasn't looking forward to carrying my computer on the bus during rush hour. While Ruggie was in music I went to a store nearby and finished my Christmas shopping for the boys and then stopped for a coffee....tried to relax for a brief moment.
When we got home I put Ruggie in the bath and then called my design boss to get further instructions on what I was suppose to finish tonight. Turns out that she wanted me to reinvent the wheel before calling it a night....nessun problema (no problem). Fil and Pat came home while I was on the phone and then I met them in the kitchen to talk about my day at school. Pat and Alberto went out for the night so I made dinner for the boys, baked some muffins for tomorrow's breakfast, cleaned the kitchen, put the boys to bed and then started to redesign the wheel. Despite not succeeding in the last thing on today's list, I'm headed to bed. I hope tomorrow is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich; sweet and easy.
